Aramco Americas
Requirements
The NAIAS (North American International Auto Show) is where the automotive community gathers to unveil their latest and greatest innovations. With a convention center full of exhibitors clamoring for attention, Aramco needed an agency that could incorporate technical renderings into user-friendly, interactive displays, so MDG answered the call. From programming to exhibiting, we were able to implement a digital tour of Aramco's Opposed-Piston Engine.

Makes the Dream Work
Just like we learned when we were kids, things work out better when you know how to be a team player. MDG collaborated with the engineers who created the technical renderings and animations of the engine. They passed us the baton, and we got to work making the renderings accessible to visitors.
Trade Show Showcase
Easy As PI
In order to allow our designs to communicate with the
touch-screen displays, we programmed single-board
computers. We kept the computers connected to the internet
to make any on-the-fly fixes that might have come up (we
didn’t end up needing it, but we prefer to play it safe).
The Early Bird
Although the show was on the other side of the country from
MDG home base, we were on the scene as soon as the
displays were powered up so that we could put the
interactivity to the test well before exhibit visitors arrived.
Multiview
After programming and designing on a computer, displaying
on specially fabricated interactive exhibit displays, and
monitoring in the tablet version, we had gotten to know the
Opposed-Piston Engine pretty intimately.
Technical Techs
Setting up the technical aspects of interactive displays was
critical, but we also needed to present onlookers with visuals
that felt like a part of the Aramco brand.
More Than Green and Blue
Working with a brand book ensured that the exact hues of
colors used match the overall Aramco brand, but the creative
challenge is always to design what feels authentically a part of
the brand.
The Big Screens
With a larger display than most monitors, we could leave
sufficient negative space in the design without sacrificing
user-friendliness.
Fitting In
Our portion of the project blended seamlessly with the panels,
lighting, and props within the exhibits.
Like A Good Neighbor
Aramco’s two booths were situated on two seperate floors of
the convention center, so one lucky MDG owner/designer
checked on both for the entirety of the weekend-long show.
Without knowing it, he completed a record-breaking pacing
marathon.
Beyond The Show
It’s not every company that opts for two giant interactive
displays at a trade show, so the opportunity to put our designs
into these machines was both challenging and rewarding.
Overall, we were happy to implement something that felt true
to the Aramco brand and served its function as an informative
interactive display

We like to call that feeling 'strategic intuition'
and you should trust it.
